A woman was protected from an armed robber attempting to mug her by the Pit Bull she was walking. The woman was walking her boyfriend's dog on the beach in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Tuesday evening, when a man in a ski mask approached her with a knife and demanded she hand over her cell phone and valuables.
The 52-year-old woman told police officers that it wasn't until the robber held the knife to her throat that the dog sprung to her defense and lunged and bit the thug.
The loyal and protective Pit Bull frightened off the man, who ran away after he was bitten.
According to WMBF News, the man is described as white, with a stocky build, around 5 foot 7 inches tall and wearing dark clothing.
The incident happened around 76th Avenue North on Tuesday at around 6 pm. Hospitals have been alerted about anyone seeking treatment for a possible dog bite. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Myrtle Beach police department.
