SAR dog rests during work at 9/11

Hundreds of Search and Rescue dog/human teams helped with rescue and recovery efforts during 9/11. Most of the dogs at ground zero have since passed away. A handful of surviving dogs are still alive.

In 2011, on 9/11s 10th anniversary, a special parade was held in honor of these selfless dogs and their handlers. Several of the surviving dogs were in attendance and many search and rescue teams from across the United States came to honor and pay tribute to the dogs who steadfastly served the victims of 9/11.
