Richard Mazon was driving on Highway 60 in Jurupa Valley, California, when he saw a vehicle pull to the side of the road and dump a puppy. As the car pulled away he saw the abandoned puppy scramble to get back to the car, running alongside of it, as the driver heartlessly drove off.
Knowing the puppy was in danger, Mazon pulled over to save her. Mazon took the scared puppy to his workplace nearby and called Riverside County Animal Services. Officer Mark Visyak picked up the pup, a 2-month-old female terrier mix.
Mazon was so focused on saving the dog's life he did not have time to get a license plate number for the car. Visyak said Mazon was not only upset but disgusted that someone could abandon a puppy like they did.

"This man is a hero for this dog,” Visyak said. "If not for his quick thinking, the dog likely would have continued running onto the highway."
The 2-month-old puppy is now staying at the Riverside County Animal Shelter where she will be available for adoption on June 5. Anyone interested in adopting this cute puppy can contact the shelter and reference identification number A0950322.
