This is some sick stuff. I don't own a pit but I have had a rottweiler and now have 2 jack Russels. who do these people think they are telling her she has to have a 20# or less dog, just because she has a felony. Something wrong with the system.

Putz had been isolated in a kennel, depressed, and without the person he loves for all that time. No RESPONSIBLE vet or animal behaviorist (which I believe this person would NEVER qualify as) could expect him to behave any differently under the circumstances than he did. Add to that the fact that he undoubtedly felt the hostility coming from the people doing the evaluating.... yet HE DIDN'T BITE!! A vicious and dangerous dog, under those circumstances, would have taken a piece out of those people, who deserve it more than most (in my opinion). What the court system and the Minneapolis AC&C have done, besides murder a hero, is tell abused women that if their dog tries to protect them and come to their aid, THEY MIGHT BE KILLED FOR DOING SO! Many women stay with their abusers SOLELY to protect their pets: now they've been given an even stronger motive to do so and even SUBMIT to the brutality to save those innocent lives. The authorities have not only murdered a hero, they've given carte blanche to abusers and taken away one more safety valve for women. Way to go, guys! Not only have you proven you don't value dogs, you have also shown how little you value the lives of women!

OMG - WTF is the matter with you people !!! Look at this dog - why don't you lock up the idiot that is clearly abusive rather than a dog that has been given a bad rap in the first place. This poor dog was only trying to protect his owner. This is absolutely the most outrageous act I have read about in a long time. And then to have him re-evaluated AFTER he had been in quarantine for 3 months with no interaction with other pets and/or people- what the hell do they expect !! It makes me sick that there are people walking the streets who are murderers and get away with more than these poor animals. Women of today do not have the protection they need in this time of abuse to themselves,and when they do report such violence it is overlooked. I hope this asshole is happy that he has taken the life of a hero.

Who can we email to show our outrage and disgust at this situation?! That judge should be fired! If we don't take a stand now this will never change!

This is disgusting... is it because it's a pittbull??? What if this dog was a sheperd (german, malinois, dutch)??? Would they have put it down to?? I myself have a Dutch Sheperd, he would do the same if someone attacked me... and he doesn't like that strange people touch hem when i'm not there... he needs his time to get to know you. He just isn't a dog who likes to cuddle. Is he then a vicious dog??? Some people get especially a guarding dog to protect their home. So what if the dog hadn't done anything??? And she did shoot her ex?? Like the girl a while ago who shot a guy who tried to break into her house?? She to had a german shepard.... but she took the right into her own hands!! So she should!! There is indeed something wrong with the system!!

This is disgraceful, disgusting. Those involved from Minneapolis ACC need to lose their jobs that includes the vet. That these people are making life and death decisions is unbelievable. They are murderers pure and simple.

This is absolutely disgusting. If this dog was a Chihauha (known to bite) or another small dog would it have been put to sleep. I saw pics of the bite wounds and that dog wasn't trying to do damage, he was telling the ex-husband to stop and defending the owner.

I am OUTRAGED at thisOUTRAGED shelter, vet and anyone else involved!!! They do not belong in animal care at all. If they had any knowledge whatsoever, they would have known this dog was HEARTBROKEN!!! They feel, They have emotions!!! What is the matter with you??? This poor baby has known his human partner since a puppy and was doing what his instincts told him to do. And then you shove him in a cage???? No wonder he didn't respond to any of you!! He knew you were EVIL!!!

I'd like to start a petition but I'm not sure who to. Mayor Rybak? The President? The Supreme Court? Would any of these people care? Who was the idiot judge? We can't rely on the ACC people or a judge to do the right thing. The next time something like this is about to happen, go in and take the dog away to safety. Don't leave him there to be killed for all the wrong reasons.
