Many people confuse Siberian Huskies with Alaskan Malamutes, but there are quite a few differences between these beautiful breeds.
Malamutes are much larger and broader. They are also genetically much more closely related to wolves.
While Huskies are bred more to pull sleds quickly, Malamutes are not as fast, but they are strong enough not both to pull weight and to carry up to 100 pounds on their backs.
Here is a photo of a Husky and a Malamute, side by side, and the physical differences between the two can be clearly seen.
In the photo above, the Husky on the left is much smaller than the Malamute on the right!
