A dog named Charlie pulled his owner from his burning home and to safety on Wednesday night. Mike Cameron, from Stewiacke, Nova Scotia said he barely escaped death if it wasn't for his Border Collie mix.
He was asleep on the couch when Charlie began pounding his chest. Mike woke up to blackness, his home filled with smoke. He told CBC News that he was frantically looking for his two cats when he collapsed near the door.
Charlie came to his rescue, dragging him outside and onto the deck. "He grabbed me by the shoulders and hauled me," described Mike. Mike said when firefighters arrived he begged to stay because he did not want to leave his animals behind. Firefighters told him they were all right. Charlie and his two cats were safe and he believes Charlie helped guide the cats outside.
"There's nobody like Charlie, nobody. He's staying with me forever," said Mike Cameron.
