Inseparable pair: Papillion mix is seeing-eye dog to Chihuahua

  • Sarah and Max are looking to be adopted

Max and Sarah are best friends who take care of each other. Sarah is visually impaired, so Max acts as her seeing-eye dog.

No one at the Florida Humane Society in Pinellas knows their back-story, but the pair came to the shelter together.

Max is a 3-years-old Papillion mix who has an outgoing personality. Sarah, also 3 years old is a Chihuahua and a bit shy, but Twila Cole of the Humane Society says "She has all of her other senses about her. So, be it her hearing or her sense of smell; you can see it sometimes... she stops and almost like a radar she’ll sense where [Max] is at and she'll go straight towards him."

"Together they always check in on each other...They're just two peas in a pod," says Twila. As such, the Humane Society plans to adopt them together.
