Natural Balance Pet Foods recalls products due to potential salmonella contamination

Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance has announced a voluntary product recall for their Sweet Potato & Venison Dog, Lamb Meal & Brown Rice Dog, Lamb Meal & Brown Rice Dog Large Breed Bites and Lamb Meal & Brown Rice Dog Small Breed Bites. They were notified by Diamond Pet Foods, one of their co-manufacturers, that certain Natural Balance dry food formulas produced in their Gaston, SC facility should be voluntarily recalled.
Diamond Pet Foods also has notified several other companies whose products were manufactured by Diamond Pet Foods at their South Carolina facility. This has prompted several other brands of dog food to be recalled including: Diamond Pet Foods Brands, Natural Balance (see below), Canidae, Wellness and Kirkland. Refer to the individual alerts to determine which product batches have been affected.
No animal illnesses have been reported thus far, and none of the Natural Balance products included in the recall have tested positive for Salmonella. However the company initiated a voluntary recall as a precautionary measure.
Recalled products may have been distributed in Canada and the following US states: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, DC, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Wyoming.
States that are NOT affected include: Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.
