Police asking for help finding puppy torturer

When: 2012-01-27 11:31:00 -0800
Where: Phoenix, Arizona, United States

Details:

Andre is a victim of animal abuse in ArizonaPhoenix Police are investigating a horrific animal abuse case and are asking the public's help in finding the person(s) responsible for gouging out the eyes of a miniature pinscher and using the dog for BB-gun target practice in Phoenix, AZ.

Andre, as the dog is nicknamed, was found wrapped in a plastic bag, severely dehydrated and dumped two weeks ago near 102nd Avenue and Hess Street, near Tolleson.

Susy Hopkins, who rescued Andre from a County shelter, described Andre's condition when she adopted him: "He [was] so thin and has multiple bb's lodged under his skin. His eye sockets [were] so filled with puss that they are draining out his nose and running down his face. He was severely dehydrated and looks like a skeleton. He must have been in so much pain. His eyes were hanging out of his head," she continues. "He's been so neglected and abused."

Andre has made a remarkable recovery since receiving surgery and care.

A $1000 reward for help in catching the puppy torturer is being offered by PETA.

Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151.

My heart goes out to this little guy. I am so happy that he found a good home though. It goes to show that if dogs have the ability to love after this, then why can't humans do the same? I wish all the best to Andre and his new owner!!
