Adopted dog runs for help and saves owner's life

A Labrador Retriever named John Boy saved his owner's life after she fell unconscious outside her home. The adopted dog ran to get her help and ended up fetching a police officer!

Wisconsin Police Officer Jeff Gonzalez, with the Germantown Police Department, was out on patrol when he saw John Boy running on the street.

He stopped and John Boy barked at him, so he rolled down his window and called to him. "Then he wagged his tail and got more friendly until I got out of my car and then he ran a little bit," Officer Gonzalez told WITI News.

John Boy saved his mom

The officer noticed John Boy was leading him down the street to his house where his mom, Krystal, was in trouble. Officer Gonzalez noticed Krystal slumped over in a chair outside of her front door. She was in her pajamas, her lips were blue and she was ice cold.

The officer thought she was dead at first, but he noticed she was still breathing and immediately called for help.

Krystal suffers from a heart condition but she was stabilized and is recovering at hospital all thanks to a dog that had been rejected multiple times.

It turns out John Boy was adopted and returned three times by different families before Krystal took him home. She and her family must be extremely grateful he is part of their family!

The lady rescued the right dog. John Boy ran to get help to save her life. Am sure John Boy and his new owner will be together a long time. A good dog.
It's just a guess on my part, but is it not possible that Krystal thought John Boy wanted to go outside when he was really trying to alert her to a medical problem? That this is the reason she was found outside? I guess will never know. I'm so glad that Krystal was found in time and that she is recovering in hospital. So what does this tell us about John Boy's intelligence? Certainly John Boy recognized that something was wrong with Krystal, but his actions speak to something more. John Boy could have just stayed by Krystal to protect her, but he recognized that this was a life and death emergency. Why else would he run for help and then run back to Krystal when he found it? Barring the use of a phone, isn't this exactly what a human would do? That's intelligent problem solving is it not? You're a real hero John Boy. I hope you get the reward of meal fit for a king. Thank goodness that Officer Gonzalez recognized John Boy's call for help. Well done guys. So the next time you get that " that's the one " feeling when you see a picture of a dog looking for a home at a rescue or shelter, it may be fate calling you to rescue your own guardian angel. Maybe just like Lil Man and Brandi from the article on this site by Martha called- Bonded dogs at shelter refuse to leave each other's side.
