Dogart_thumb By Ellen | November 11, 2013 | Comments (8)

The Humane Society of Chittenden County was happy witness two old friends reuniting this week after two years apart.

They described the reunion as follows: "Rottweiler Bella came to the Humane Society of Chittenden County because her owners could not afford an expensive surgery to repair her torn CCL. A local veterinarian generously offered to do her surgery for free - and we made her available for adoption so she could recover from surgery in a home. Last weekend, we got a call from a woman who said she thought Bella was her dog, whom she had lost in the process of a messy divorce two years ago and had been missing ever since. Today, Jenn came by to see if Bella was actually her dog ..."

I would have to agree that Isabel is Jens dog. I'm so glad for Isabel that she will be able to recuperate at home with family. Sometimes the world works in mysterious ways. It's nice to hear a happy ending every once in a while.
the BIG problem, though, is that dogs today are not worked as they should be. dogs were not meant to loll around on the couch all day except for two sedate little trots to do poopies. rottis are working dogs - they were meant to run all day and fight often as they protected herds from wolves and other predators. if ppl want a rotti or working dog, they need to give that dog a job that leaves him panting and wiped out by the end of the day. voila - no more chub.
two meals a day for a dog with a normal metabolism is fine. three or four meals is even better when dealing with large-breed dogs. but these are dogs with messed-up metabolisms because of the spay/neuter coring out the endocrine system. ppl feed their dogs according to the directions and they figure that's just how the dog's supposed to be. and then, of course, if the dog's not getting as much as he feels he ought, there's the counter-surfing, fridge-raiding, plant-eating, and garbage-diving to contend with.
It doesn't matter if they are prone to it. If they are fed two meals a day and don't have free access to food, there's no reason for them to be fat.
rottis are prone to getting fat (same as labs and beagles) and spaying/neutering increases the risk of obesity by 350%.
Very sweet!!!! But wow that dog is fat!
This made me cry, imagine being seperated from your furbaby for that long and then miraculously finding them again. I can't imagine how happy she is feeling. And I love that Bella so blatently remembers her :')
that is so definitely her dog - you can tell by the way her hands immediately hit all the "sweet spots".
