Heroic Pit bull saves missing elderly woman with Alzheimer's

Cara Jones was out walking her Pit bull, Creature, late at night when the 2-year-old dog kept drawing her attention to the brush nearby.

a pit bull helped save an elderly woman with Alzheimer'sShe kept looking at Cara, barking and pulling Cara to the spot where an elderly woman lay shivering and cold on the ground.

Carmen Mitchell, 89, suffers from Alzheimer's and had wandered from her home in Piscataway, New Jersey.

Her caregiver, Rochelle Wason, immediately called police, who sent out a search party and helicopter to look for Carmen. She had been missing for several hours when the heroic Pit bull found her.

Carmen's family "couldn't believe it" and was grateful for Creature, saying Pit bulls get a bad rap.

Great story; we need more like these! On another note, what an odd name to give to a dog. To each their own, I guess. lol
How many times have I seen it on the news where a dog walker finds a crime seen or someone who has gone missing. I guess it's one of the fringe benefits of having dog walkers in your community. Having worked at a hospital with Alzheimer's patients the doors to this ward had special electronic access so patients would not wander off like this. Perhaps there is something similar on the market that this family could put in place to prevent this from happening again. Good boy Creature you saved a life.
