Chiari Malformation and Syringomyelia - Overview

Syringomyelia usually results from a skull abnormality called a Chiari I Malformation, also known as Chiari Malformation (CM), Chiari-like Malformation (CLM) and Caudal Occipital Malformation Syndrome (COMS). Great Dane walks again after paralyzing disease

Grady the Great Dane began to display problems with mobility until he eventually lost the ability to walk or stand. When X-rays ruled out the possibility that Grady had Wobblers Syndrome, he underwent further tests that determined his condition to be much more serious. Grady had Syringomyelia. Ebbi Update

Hi guys!   Ebbi had another seizure on Monday evening. It was not good, so it was straight to the vet. She got the most thorough physical I've ever seen her get. Including a full going over of her head, heart and all joints etc Luckily, my lil munchkin has a perfect heart (vet gasped at that) perfect joints and lovely remaining teeth (PHEW)... However, her brain was "swollen"(no kidding, right?), which contributed to the...

R.I.P.

My heart is very heavy and sad; my boy went to doggy Heaven Oct. 6, 2011. Kingsley battled with syringomyelia for 2 ½ years. He had eight cysts on his spinal cord; one was the size of a quarter that rested on the back of his neck. Both knees - Patellar luxation The night before I made the decision to send Kingsley to doggy heaven, he laid his head on my shoulder and looked at...

Darwin turns two

Today is Darwin's second birthday. The past two years have been quite a journey for us both, so we're taking the time to celebrate this milestone. As a puppy, one of Darwin's favourite words was "work", meaning training session. His willingness to learn, his submissive, yet, friendly nature and his ability to charm the humans seemed to make Darwin a perfect therapy dog candidate. However, the plan to go through Canine Good Citizen...

Ebbi

Sadly, I think Ebbi has gotten worse. She doesn't scratch away at her side as much anymore, but other symptoms have developed. Shes now scratching at her ears A LOT! Literally crumbling down to scratch at her ears. (which I checked to see if they were dirty or anything, but they are perfect.) She licks her front paws an awful lot as well. Everytime she eats she has to rub her face on a mat...

Chairi Malformation and Syringomeylia

Hi, I live in the Netherlands and over here there is a big discussion going on about a breedingstop. There are 2 organisations that want a breedingstop for the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Because they say that 98% worldwide the cavalier has CM and Syringomeylia. Now I'm against a breedingstop because, you gonna push the cavalier in a black breeding circuit. Where there is no controle over. I'm for a very strickt breedingproces, were is...

Chiari Malformation / Syringomyelia [Awareness] and My Dear Lola

Our (my husband and I) furry companions are Puma, a Siamese cat, rescued from the pound as an "two-year old" adult "stray", and Lola, my CKCS, given to us by a friend whose dog had puppies. And they adore each other. It took Puma all of two hours to fall in love with Lola even though he was an adult and very skittish when we brought him home. She was his first friend. I believe...
