Two friends enjoy a rest on the dog bed! <p>A Union firefighter in Florence, Kentucky rescued a dog that fell through ice on a pond Sunday morning.<br /><br />Brandon Kilby of the Union Fire Department along with personnel from Boone County rescue, Hebron, Florence, Erlanger, Point Pleasant and Covington Fire/EMS departments, responded to a call at a trailer park off of Green Lawn Avenue in Florence after a 1-year-old husky named "Ali" fell through the ice, according to authorities.<br /><br />Donning an ice rescue suit, Kilby pulled Ali from the frozen body of water at about 10:40 a.m. Bud Webster with the Florence Fire/EMS Department said the dog spent a "considerable amount of time" in the water.<br /><br />Webster confirmed the rescued dog is OK after being taken to a vet to be "warmed up" and checked out. Ali was returned to her owners Sunday evening.</p>
<p>The photo was taken by William Fletcher.</p> A rescue operation was launched after a 12-week-old puppy fell into the River Tyne this morning.Fire crews were called when the German Shepherd chased a bird and slipped into the water on the Gateshead side of river, underneath the Redheugh Bridge.Firefighters from Gateshead and Fossway stations arrived at around 8.30am to find the puppy struggling in the river.The dog’s owner coaxed the pet out of the water onto the muddy bank which allowed fire crews to reach the dog and carry it to safety.The dog was not injured and returned home with its owner. Great site for dog lovers.
